From Friday, June 20 to Sunday, June 22, in the heart of the Ossola Valley, SPHERA comes to life once again. Circular Visions for Our Future, an immersive experience that blends art, nature and innovation. Born from the vision of the Tones on the Stones Foundation, the festival enriches the Tones Teatro Natura season with a program that explores new ways of living and thinking, interweaving culture, science, sustainability and music. Inspired by the principles of the New European Bauhaus Project – the European project to transform ways of thinking and lifestyles based on sustainability, inclusiveness and technological innovation – SPHERA offers a sensory journey of performances and encounters with the aim of rethinking our future and relationship with the planet.
This second edition focuses on the relationship between humans and the environment, with an important focus on the new generations and their vision of the world, offering a journey between experimental music, artistic performances and reflections on our approach to environmental issues. It will be three days full of activities, including workshops in nature, guided hikes to discover biodiversity, discussions with experts on sustainability and climate change, concerts and DJ sets with international artists and emerging talents who will bring innovative sounds.
20 JUNE
It starts on Friday, June 20, at 3 p.m. with the opening of the campground, completely immersed in the woods of Oira by the Toce River, just a stone’s throw from Tones Teatro Natura, an ideal place to participate in the daily excursions and activities offered by the packed schedule.
Next, at 4:30 p.m. there will be the Music Workshop curated by the Araadura studio, a project by producer and musician Andrea Guarinoni and composer Filippo Ripamonti, produced by the multimedia production company Waamoz, dedicated to the production of multidisciplinary works to explore the relationship between sound, nature and art.
On the first evening, music will take shape through varied sounds and styles thanks to the MIGMA collective, made up of artists who produce and promote avant-garde indigenous culture from the VCO Lake District. After an initial DJ set of theirs at 7:30 p.m., from 9 p.m., however, Cho Room, the duo composed of DJ sisters Leau and Naomz; Teamcro, a multidisciplinary collective of singers, producers, graphic and video artists; and Giungla powered by Bassi Gradassi Sound System, an experience with the intention of unleashing the sonic and social power of the sound system, will take turns.

21 JUNE

Departure at 10 a.m. with a nature hike by Terra Verde, an informal group of environmental activists in the Verbano area, with anthropologist Valeria Margherita Mosca, an ethnobotany specialist, environmental researcher and hiking guide: participants will follow Valeria’s advice to collect some wild plants with which they will then prepare lunch.
At 2:30 p.m. the walk will leave to reach the ancient stone village of Ghesc, where at 4 p.m. there will be a performance of Dov’è più profondo with performers Irene Russolillo and Edoardo Sansonne: corporeality, sound and images come together in this performance, the result of a creative process that combines song forms and traditional local orality.
At 6:30 p.m. there will be a talk Ticino-Valgrande-Verbano Biosphere Reserve: Environmental Regeneration and Opportunities for Business, Tourism and New Generations, exploring the opportunities in the area with journalist Edoardo Vigna and institutional guests, entrepreneurs and representatives of the local social fabric.
The evening will continue at 8 p.m. with Araadura, who will offer an immersive performance with acoustic instruments, synthesizers, wind instruments, sound objects and tape recorders. During the live performance, some of the sound fragments collected during the Music Workshop, held on Friday, will be reworked on stage, in a musical narrative suspended between structured composition and free improvisation.
Following this, at 9 p.m. there will be a dialogue between writers and journalists Ferdinando Cotugno and Fabio Deotto who will discuss the major issues related to the environment and sustainability.
22 JUNE
The day on Sunday, June 22 will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a nature hike curated by Terra Verde with Valgrande Park Official Guide Manuel Piana and researcher Mattia Iaia. Concurrently, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be the interactive nature performance IN_Koro by dance company Ariella Vidach AiEP, a project that combines nature, culture and technology to actively engage participants in an immersive experience of physical and intellectual sharing. Dancers and audience will bring a collective work to life by making the natural space interact with the body and smartphones.
After a convivial lunch exploring local products, the afternoon will feature a performance at 4 p.m. by Barton Think, an artist who alchemically blends soul, beat and jazz, bringing a unique sound to the stage.
Following this, at 5:30 p.m. psychologist and psychotherapist Matteo Lancini will dialogue with the Associazione 21 Marzo, a youth organization for the cultural and social promotion of the area, addressing issues of great relevance to the new generations with respect to prospects, anxieties and hopes for their future.
Big closing party at 7 p.m. with a DJ set curated by Karma Association, a nonprofit association engaged in the realization of socio-cultural events, to celebrate the journey of the three days of SPHERA
