TONES NATURE THEATRE Season 2024
TONES NATURE THEATRE Season 2024
From 8 June to 7 September in the scenic granite quarry of Oira Crevoladossola (VCO)
Music, performances, theatre, food, outdoor activities, workshops, immersive experiences and encounters between art, culture and ecology in the wonderful stone theatre at the foot of the Alps.
From 8 June to 7 September, the programme of Tones Teatro Natura, the suggestive stone theatre at the foot of the Alps, returns to the heart of the Val D’Ossola. It was created in 2021 by the Fondazione Tones on the Stones to transform the eponymous festival of contemporary creation with an immersive character into a stable project and performance space capable of hosting a true multidisciplinary season. A unique venue, created in a former granite quarry in Oira Crevoladossola thanks to a major environmental redevelopment process, conceived from a different vision of the relationship between cultural programming and the natural landscape.
First previews
These are the first artists and projects outlining the fourth season of Tones Teatro Natura.
The programming will start on Saturday 8 June with a concert by the band Stunt Pilots, a pop trio specialising in trap rock and famous for winning second place at X Factor 2023.
On Friday 14 June, directed by the visionary illusionist Arturo Brachetti, the show Fred! will pay tribute to the great singer-songwriter Fred Buscaglione, together with performer/juggler Matthias Martelli and the trombettist and composer Fabrizio Bosso.
Also kicking off is Sphera, a new format within the season. Articulated in a three-day programme, from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 June, aiming to touch on every aspect of human existence – from the intellectual to the emotional, up to the care and wellbeing of the body – the new format will be inspired by the principles of the New European Bauhaus Project, the European project for the transformation of ways of thinking and lifestyles based on sustainability, inclusiveness and technological innovation. There will be yoga sessions held by singer-songwriter Marianne Mirage, who will also perform live, and an entire night discovering magical herbs with anthropologist Valeria Mosca in her Wood*ing | Wild food lab format, a research and experimentation laboratory on the use of wild food for food and human nutrition that is involved in projects for the conservation and protection of the environment and biodiversity. In addition, sensory experiences with bees and picnics wrapped in ambient sounds designed by the Atmospherica collective. Guests will also include the renowned evolutionist Telmo Pievani with a lecture, and Maura Gancitano and Andrea Colamedici, founders of the multimedia cultural dissemination project Tlon.
Discovering vegan cuisine will be the cooking workshop/show held by creator Annalisa Chessa aka Little Vegan Witch, while the authoritative journalist and writer Sandro Sangiorgi will be a guest to explore the world of wine. Finally, on Saturday 22 June, the theatre will be the setting for a concert by the Catanian singer-songwriter Carmen Consoli.
Saturday 29 June will be the evening of Ossola in Jazz, during which there will be performances by the duo Into the Wild Woods, the ensemble led by singer and composer Elisa Marangon, and two of the best protagonists of the international jazz scene, double bass player Rosa Brunello and the priestess of Middle Eastern sound Yazz Ahmed in Senseless acts of love.
And then again, from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 July, the marathon of Nextones, the international festival now in its eleventh edition, curated and co-produced with Threes Productions and dedicated to the most radical experimentation in the field of audiovisual art and electronic music, whose programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
Finally, the big closing concert on Saturday 7 September with the most popular musical couple of the new Italian scene, Colapesce Dimartino for an unmissable date of the Lux Eterna Beach tour.
Rock opera
In addition to all this, on Saturday 13 July, there will be the revival of The Witches Seed, the spectacular and immersive rock opera by the brilliant musician and founder of the Police Stewart Copeland, with some songs by Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders and Irene Grandi in the lead role.
The other big news: the inauguration of a large climbing hall
The other big news for 2024 is the inauguration, right on the occasion of the opening of the season, of a new open-air infrastructure that further modifies the design of the Tones Teatro Natura space: a large climbing gym built in collaboration with Ossola Outdoor School.
