Azienda Vitivinicola Edoardo Patrone

Located in the heart of the Lepontine Alps, the Edoardo Patrone farm is a winery run by Edward and Stella.
Together with a team of young and enthusiastic young people they share a love for viticulture and oenology. We select the best grapes from the vineyards we cultivate on the slopes of the Ossola mountains.
In addition to the vineyards, around the winery we have different varieties of fruit trees and the vegetable garden. Our goal is to become environmentally friendly and environmentally sustainable.
In the heart of the Lepontine Alps, the winemaking tradition has been present for more than 700 years. Thanks to the Alps that surround and protect the Ossola Valley, it is a place where viticulture can give remarkable results. The Prünent, an autochthonous ecotype of Nebbiolo, has adapted to achieve the right pedoclimatic adaptation.
Still today the typical cultivation is pergola, locally called Topia, which stands on large stone monoliths made from local quarries. With this traditional farming method our ancestors have found a way to obtain great results both in terms of production and resistance. In fact, the main problems such as late frosts and wild animals, thanks to the Topia, can be reduced to a minimum. It also allows to work quietly in the shade during the hot summers. Unlike many wine-growing areas, in Val d’Ossola the use of grass is a common practice because thanks to the heavy winter snowfall there is a good quantity of water resources for the summer so that the plant can hardly be left under stress.
