Central Lago and Borromean Islands
Lake Mergozzo

One of the most romantic lakes of Italy
Lake Mergozzo, hidden between Lake Maggiore and Orta, “only” five centuries ago was part of Lake Maggiore. Now it stands out in beauty.
There are plenty of wonders in this corner made of water and rocks. The waters are cristal clear and, to keep this high level, sailing under power is forbidden. This is a paradise for watersports! Left your gills at home? Don’t worry! You can climb Montorfano and discover the hidden treasure of San Giovanni Battista Church. Or you can simply sit under the Ancient Elm Tree in the main square, listening to it whispering.
Do you know you can reach Mergozzo by bike? Cycling along the “Cycle Path of Toce River”, through the Naturalistic Oasis of Fondotoce to the small village of Mergozzo!
