The Boca Sanctuary - "SS. Crocefisso Shrine"

Alessandro Antonelli was the architect who planned this enormous and unexpected building tucked away among gently rolling hills and vineyards. He worked on this project for all his life and, when he died in 1888, the bulding was left incomplete. The plan was very challenging and a number of misfortunes prevented the work. But, in the end, it’s amazing looking at the massive self-sustaining construction trying to imagine the 119 m tall bell tower that daydreamer planned for his church!

And then, you can also take a path in the woods and wander among vineyards searching for the “maggiorina”. The mistery will be revealed by the vine-growers if you will join them to the wine cellar for a toast to the bizare architect.
