Ameno
“Ameno” in Italian means “pleasant” and you can find that the name is perfect for this little but amazing village. Along the narrow streets you will line a number of wonderful luxury palaces where nobles and rich people from the surroundings spent their holidays, the “villeggiatura”, taking advantage of sun, season and beauty. So, you can do the same…without spending the enormous amount of money they needed to build a court!
Then take a stroll in the wood up to Mesma fryary and you will discover that the Italian saying “quel che passa il convento” sometimes is astonishing!
Nearby, in Vacciago hamlet, you’ll find Fondazione Calderara with the museum of Contemporary Art and complete your tour visiting the Madonna della Bocciola church, peacefully looking to the sunset on the Lake.
