The Punta dei Camosci, Bettelmatthorn in Swiss, is a beautiful rocky pyramid that towers above the Gries Pass and acts as a watershed between the glacial Sabbioni and Griesgletscher valleys.
The name derives from the alpine pasture on its slopes, the Bettelmatt bee, from which the famous cheese that has become famous in Italian cuisine was named.
Its flavour comes from the special milk that the cows generate up here by eating refined pastures characterised by a high degree of biodiversity.
From up there, the view sweeps northwards towards the high peaks of the Oberland, while to the south the panorama runs until it meets the imposing north faces of the Mischabel and Lyskamm.
The route starts in Riale, the last village in the Formazza valley, and then climbs up the Gries valley to the pass and then along the ridge to the summit.
