Villa Toeplitz - Varese
Villa Toeplitz was built in 1901 by the German Hannesen family, was then bought by the Polish banker Giuseppe Toeplitz in 1914 and took its name from this family.
Located on a panoramic area, near the Holy Mount, it is surrounded by magnificent gardens and is a cultural heritage of inestimable value, the perfect setting for nature and oriental art lovers.
The owner tried to recreate the beauty of the oriental world inside his garden, with elements coming from different countries as the Carrara marble used for the fountains. A Polish architect built an exclusive chapel in the garden that keeps the frescoes of the Polish painter Rosen.
Villa Toeplitz became property of Varese in 1972 and from that year has been opened to the public.
