Verbania celebrates Blue Flag 2023
Today, the municipality of Verbania received the award from the FEE, the European Foundation for Environmental Education, at the CNR headquarters in Rome.
Among the sea and lake locations that have been awarded the Blue Flag for 2023, in addition to Verbania there is also the municipality of San Maurizio d’Opaglio on Lake Orta.
Double prestige for our territory and our lakes.
This brings to five the number of municipalities in Piedmont that can boast the Blue Flag: Cannobio, Cannero Riviera and Verbania in the province of Verbania; San Maurizio d’Opaglio and Gozzano in the province of Novara.
“This award that was presented to us today is a further significant and great result of this administration’s commitment to relaunching tourism and improving its environmental policies,” said Silvia Marchionini, mayor of Verbania.
“The beaches concerned are those of Isolino and Sasso, the two beaches with the most stable waters in all parameters. The Blue Flag is awarded not only for a clean coastline, water quality and services that are up to standard and environmentally advanced, but is also given to those municipalities that, on the whole, demonstrate that they are aiming to improve their environmental policies. (…) We hope that we will be confirmed over time as Cannero, and that this commitment will be extended to other localities on Lake Maggiore,” emphasised Marchionini.
